Mary Dimmock [d.4]

Mary Dimmock was the fourth child of John Dimmock & Eliza Ellis born April 21st, 1890 at 12 Queens St, Ryhope, Co Durham.

In 1901 Mary was living with her parents & brother & sisters at 29 Tunstall St, Ryhope, Co. Durham. Her father John was a coal miner/hewer at this time, & her older brother Charles was an underground engine driver.

Mary (known as Polly) married Edward Chapman on December 28th, 1912 at St Paul’s, Ryhope. Edward was born c1889, the son of Hannah & John Chapman, a miner. At the time of the wedding Mary was living with her family at 29 Tunstall St, Ryhope & Edward was living at 15 Burdon St, Ryhope. Witnesses at the wedding were William Robson & Maria Lowe.

According to the electoral registers of Ryhope Colliery, Mary & her husband Edward, known as Ned, were living with Mary’s parents in 1926 at 29 Tunstall St, Ryhope. By 1928 Mary’s parents had moved out of 29 Tunstall St but Mary & Edward continued to live there until at least 1945.
