Hannah Grove [g.3]

Hannah Grove was the third child of William Grove & Hannah King christened January 9th, 1820 at St John the Baptist, Croydon, Surrey.

Hannah married John Sutton in Oct-December 1843 at Camberwell, Surrey. John was born c1821 at Gaywood, Norfolk.

In 1851 Hannah & John were living at Mettingham, Kent & John was a coachman.

In 1861 they had moved to Windsor Cottage, Elizabeth St, St Mary Newington, Surrey & John was now a hackney carriage proprietor. They had a 28 year old lodger, Henry Slade.

Hannah & John were still in St Mary Newington at 4 Elizabeth St & John had now retired. They had several lodgers including a conductor & a police constable.

In 1881 they were living at 46 Elizabeth St, & John was described as a retired cab master. They had 2 lodgers – a tailor & a butcher.

Hannah died April-June 1887, aged 67, at Newington, & John died later that year in July-September, aged 67.
