Margaret Amelia Horton was the sixth child of Richard Horton & Martha Elizabeth Stone born Jan-March, 1891 at West Bromwich, Staffs.
In 1901 the Margaret was living at 37 New St, West Bromwich & with her parents & 4 brothers.
At the time of the 1911 census Margaret was a boarder at the Church of England Training College St Mary's Hall, St Georges Place, Cheltenham, training to be a teacher.
In 1945, at the time of her mother’s death Margaret was living at 35 Hillswood Ave, Leek
Margaret married Alfred Ernest Smith on December 2nd, 1957 at the Registry Office, Spilsby, Lincs. Witnesses at the wedding were M B Sheldon & A E Coulson. At the time of the wedding Margaret was a retired school teacher of 12 Green Lane, Seacroft, Skegness & Alfred was a retired baker. Alfred was born 1883 at Spilsby, Lincs, the son of John Smith, a shoemaker. Margaret was 67 & Alfred was 73 years of age at the time of the wedding. Alfred’s previous marriage had been dissolved.
Margaret died a widow on December 25th, 1972 at 12 Green Lane. Her nephew
Denys Horton of Billinghay, Lincs was an executor to the estate as shown in
the London Gazette of February 8th, 1973.
