Ann Hall was the seventh child of John Hall & Margaret Slack christened September 2nd, 1851 at South Hetton, Co Durham.
In 1861 Ann, her parents & 2 sisters & 2 brothers were living at South Hetton.
In 1871 Ann was working as a domestic servant & was at the home of her brother John Hall & his wife Annie & their 1 year old son Frederick at Long Row, Coxhoe, Co Durham.
Ann married Winship Soppit in Oct-December 1871, the marriage being registered at Sunderland. Winship was born Jan-March 1842 at Killingworth, Longbenton, Northumberland, the son of Catherine Winship & Joseph Soppit, a labourer.
In 1881 Ann (now Annie in census) & Winship were living at 22 Colliery Houses, Framwellgate, Durham with a son John W (2) & a 2 month old daughter Margaret. With them at the time of the census was Ann’s niece, Annie Pallister (daughter of Ann Hall’s sister Barbara now married to John McCree Pallister).
Winship died in April-June 1890, aged 48, the death being registered at Morpeth, Northumberland.
In 1891 widowed Annie was working as a housekeeper for the Scott family at 225 Long Row, Harraton, Fatfield, Chester-le-Street, Co Durham.
Ann was found in the Tynemouth Union Workhouse in 1901, described as a general domestic servant.
