Henrietta Lister was the fourth child of Richard Wheatley Pattison Lister & Mary Ann Knaggs christened November 13th, 1870 at Wilton By Redcar, Yorks.
At the time of the 1871 census Henrietta was living with her parents & family at East St, Lazenby & she was still living at home in 1881, now at Knaggs St, Lazenby.
Henrietta married Charles William Stableforth on August 21 st , 1890, at St Cuthbert, Wilton, Yorks. Charles was the son of Fanny Robinson & Charles Stableforth born July-September 1863 at Boston, Lincolnshire.
In 1891 Henrietta & Charles were living at High St, Lazenby, next door to Phoebe Lister, widow of Henrietta’s cousin Thomas Lister [li.5.2]. Charles was a platelayer in the ironstone mine & they had a son Richard C, aged 5 months.
By 1901 Charles had become a licensed victualler & he & Henrietta were living at 1 Archer St, Darlington. At home was son Richard & another son Alfred L (4). Visiting them was Henrietta’s brother Richard Lister (25) who was a commission agent (sporting), listed as married.
There is a death recorded at Guisborough for Charles W Stableforth, aged 47, in Jan-March 1911.
In the census of 1911widowed Henrietta was still living at 1 Archer St & had become the innkeeper. Her son Richard was working at the Inn. Son Alfred was also still at home & working as an apprentice iron & steel moulder. Both sons were tragically killed in WW1. Richard served as a private in the 27 th Battalion (Tyneside Irish) of the Northumberland Fusiliers. Alfred served as a driver in the Royal Horse Artillery & the Royal Field Artillery.
