Cuthbert Pallister was the ninth child of William Pallister & Isabella Blackburn born March 13th, 1803 & christened June 19th, 1803 at Wallsend, Northumberland.
Cuthbert married Alice Wardle (nee Southern/Sutheron) on July 31st, 1824 at Longbenton, Northumberland.

Cuthbert & Alice's marriage
Alice was born July 17th, 1800 & christened October 5th, 1800 at Horton by Blyth, Northumberland, the daughter of Thomas Southern, a millwright, & Joanna Bealy. Alice’s first marriage to William Wardle took place on August 14th, 1820 at Longbenton. William Wardle died the next year at the age 23 & was buried on November 16th, 1821 at St Bartholemew’s, Longbenton. William & Alice who were living at Moor Edge, Northumberland & had a daughter Mary who was christened on the very day that her father was buried.
At the time of the birth of their first child, Joanna, Cuthbert & Alice were living at Longbenton & Cuthbert was a pitman. By the time of the birth of their second child Ann Elizabeth in 1831, Cuthbert & Alice had moved to Felling Shore, Heworth & Cuthbert was described as an engineman.
In 1841 Cuthbert & Alice were still living at Felling Shore, Heworth, Jarrow, Co Durham, where Cuthbert was an engineer. They had 3 children at home – Ann (10), John (8) & Alice (5). Also living with them was Mary Wardle, age given as 15 on the census, who was Alice’s daughter from her first marriage. Daughter Joanna (18) had left home & was listed as a servant living at the home of Cuthbert Frater & family at Low Felling, Heworth.
By 1851 Cuthbert & Alice had moved to Whickham & Cuthbert was now described as an engine wright. Daughter Ann Elizabeth was still at home & working as a straw bonnet maker, son John was employed as an apprentice druggist & daughter Alice Bell was also still at home.
Cuthbert & Alice had moved to 30 Bentinck St, Elswick, Newcastle by the time of the 1861 census. Cuthbert was an engine fitter & only daughter Alice B (24) was now at home & she was a school teacher.
Alice died in April-June 1867, aged 66, her death being registered at Newcastle.
In 1881 Cuthbert, now aged 78, was living with his daughter Alice B now married to Daniel Perkins, a labourer & their son John. They were living at 47 Hawes St, Elswick & Cuthbert was still described as a fitter & interestingly also noted as married.
Cuthbert died April-June 1885, aged 82, his death being registered at Newcastle.
