Joseph Thompson Pallister was the tenth child of John Pallister & Sarah Thompson born at Greencroft, Lanchester & christened February 10th, 1837 at Lanchester.
In 1841 Joseph was living at Hornsby Hill, Lanchester with his parents & 8 brothers & sisters.
Joseph was still living at home at Hornsby Hill in 1851.
Joseph married Ann Allison in Oct-December 1860, the marriage being registered at Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Ann was christened February 9th, 1840 at Lanchester, Co Durham, the daughter of Ann & Thomas Allison, a master blacksmith.
Joseph & Ann (Palenter in Ancestry.co.uk index) were living at Lanchester in 1861 where Joseph was a mason. They were living in the same dwelling as Joseph’s sister Frances Maria & her husband George Bell, an agricultural labourer.
In 1871 Joseph & Ann were living at Ornsby Hill, Lanchester, next door to Joseph’s brothers William & James. Joseph was a mason & they had 4 children by this time – Sarah Ann (9), Thomas John (7), Ellen (5) & Hannah (1).
Joseph & Ann (Annie in census) had moved to Annfield Plain, Kyo by 1881 & Joseph was now a foreman mason. Children at home were Sarah A, Thomas J, Hannah & new arrivals Emma (7), Joseph T (3) & Frances (11 months). Daughter Ellen had died in Oct-December 1878, aged 12.
The family were still living at Kyo in 1891, their address being Pontop Rows. Joseph was still a mason as was son Thomas who was still at home. Also at home were Hannah, Emma, a milliner, Joseph T, Frances & James (7).
Annie died in April-June 1899, the death being registered at Lanchester.

Joseph remarried in July-September 1899 at South Shields, Co Durham. His new wife was Mary Ann Dickson (nee Watson), born c1860 in Melbourne, Australia but was a British Citizen at the time of the 1901 census. Mary Ann had previously been married to Robert Dickson, a papermaker, who died in 1894. She had a son, George Robert Dickson (born Jan-March 1891 at Jarrow) who is listed in the next census as George R Pallister.
In 1901 Joseph & Mary Ann were living at Pontop Rows, Annfield Plain, Kyo. Both Joseph & his son Joseph T from his first marriage were masons. George R Pallister (9), indexed as son, was also living with them.
Joseph died in April-June 1903, aged 64, the death being registered at Lanchester.
In 1911 widowed Mary Ann was living at 33 Morton St, South Shields, Co Durham with her brother John Watson (43), a house joiner. With them was a 12 year old niece, Mary Walls.
