Elizabeth Pallister was the fourth child of William Pallister & Mary Ann Goundry born Oct-December 1871 at Perkinsville, Pelton, Co Durham.
Elizabeth, her parents & 3 of her sisters were living at Concrete Houses, Ouston, Co Durham in 1881 where her father was a coal miner.
By 1891 the family had moved to 5 Talbot Terrace, Birtley & Elizabeth was working as a draper’s assistant.
Elizabeth married Thomas Mallabar in April-June 1893 at Chester-le-Street. Thomas was born July-September 1872 at Birtley, the son of Margaret A & William Mallabar, an iron moulder.
In 1901 Thomas & Elizabeth were living at Dennison Place, Birtley & Thomas was a grocer’s assistant. They had 4 children by this time – William (5), Mary (4), & 1 year old twins John (George) Hector McDonald & Henry Frederick Roberts.
Thomas died on November 24th, 1910 at 65 Mitchell St, Birtley. Administration of his will was granted on April 7th, 1911 to widow Elizabeth. His effects were £322.17s.1d & resworn as £337.17s.1d.
In 1911 widowed Elizabeth was still living at 65 Mitchell St with 4 children – William, a joiner for a builder & contractor, Mary & the twins Hector & Roberts. They had a boarder, Matthew Watson, who was a grocer. It was noted on the census that Elizabeth had had 6 children, only 4 of whom were living.
Elizabeth died in Oct-December 1940 in Co Durham.

Twin Henry Frederick Roberts Mallabar had a note-worthy life. He married Maud Anderson (born December 18th, 1898) in 1923 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne. They had a daughter Kathleen in 1925, & 3 years later in 1828 all 3 sailed to New York, USA. The ship’s manifest listed Roberts (as he was known) as a student. It is known that Roberts became a pastor in the First United Methodist Church in New York State.
Roberts, Maud & daughter Kathleen returned to England in July 1938 when Roberts was described as a clergyman. Maud sadly died soon after their return, on September 14th, 1938, her death being registered at Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Roberts returned to the US at an unknown date & on August 3rd, 1940 he married for the second time in Hamilton, N.Y. His bride was Lucille Talcott, born June 7th, 1908 in Husbandsville, N.Y, the daughter of Etta Leader & William L Talcott. They were to have 2 sons, Roberts Talcott Mallabar & Thomas William Mallabar & 2 daughters, Mary Elizabeth Mallabar & Lucille (Celie) Mallabar. Roberts’ daughter Kathleen also returned to the States where she married & became Kathleen Hyde.
After serving for 39 years as a minister in many parishes in New York State Roberts, Roberts retired in 1966. He & Lucille bought a home in Oneida, N.Y. where he enjoyed his retirement while serving as an associate minister.
Roberts died on May 28th 1968 & Lucille lived to the grand age of 99 years, dying on November 17th, 2007. Both were buried at Glenwood Cemetery, Oneida, Madison County, New York.
