Miranda Stone was the fourth child of Benjamin Stone & Amelia Hackett christened March 24th, 1868 at All Saints, West Bromwich, Staffs.
In 1871 Miranda & her parents were living at Dudley Rd, West Bromwich & she had 2 sisters – Eliza & Letitia. Visiting was Emily E Young, aged 17, whom older brother James was to marry later that year.
In 1881 the family were living at 19 Hill St, Stourbridge, Worcs & her older sister Letitia, a school teacher was still at home.
At the time of the 1891 census Miranda & her parents had moved to Holdenhurst, Bournemouth, Hants, where she was assisting her father in his lodging house named ‘Cleeve’, on Bradburne Rd. They had a 24 year old servant Jane Butler.
Miranda married Frederick Walter Deane in July-September 1892 at Birmingham. Frederick was born April-June 1866 at Birmingham, the son of Harriett & James Frederick Deane.
By 1901 Miranda & Frederick, a book keeper with the gas corporation, were living at 48 Woodfield Rd, Kings Norton, Worcs. They had 3 children by this time – Cedric (7), Ronald (5) & Neville (3). Also living with them were Miranda’s parents both aged 70.
By 1911 Frederick had become superintendent of a branch of the gas department & he & Miranda were living at the Gas Office, Holyhead Rd, Wednesbury, West Bromwich, Staffs. They now had a daughter, Miranda Mary (6) & all 3 boys were still at home. Son Cedric was now an art & craft student & a part-time teaching assistant in decorative art & metalwork. Son Ronald was a clerk at the municipal gas department.
Miranda died in July-September 1926, aged 58, her death being registered at West Bromwich.
