In 1851 he was at home at Old End, West Bromwich.
Henry was still living at home in 1871 with his widowed father, brothers & sister at Newhall St, West Bromwich. Henry worked as a striker.
Henry married Emma Rosanah Kettle in Jan-March 1873 at West Bromwich. Emma was the daughter of John Kettle & Rosanna Hollyoake, christened March 8th, 1851 at All Saints, West Bromwich.
In 1881 Henry & Emma were living at 3 Whitaker St, Litchurch, Derby & Henry was a blacksmith. They had 3 children – Henry Edward (4), Mabel (2) & Thomas (4 months).
By 1891 the family had returned to West Bromwich & were living at 9 Paradise St. Henry was still a blacksmith & the oldest son Harry (Henry) worked at the wagon works. Mabel & Thomas were still at home & 4 more children had arrived – Emma (7), George (6), Ethel (4) & William (12 months). Living with them were John & William Hollyoake, Emma’s uncles. John (64) was a brick maker & William (62) a brick burner.
9 Paradise St was the home of Emma’s uncles John & William Hollyoake & aunt Hannah Hale (nee Hollyoake) back in 1881. The Hollyoake family could be found together in the 1851 census of West Bromwich north living at Sutton Lane?. The head of the family was John Hollyoake (53), a brick maker employing 5 men who was married to Rosanna (52). In 1851daughter Hannah & sons John & William were at home, as was daughter Rosanna who had been recently widowed from her husband John Kettle who had died in July-September 1850. Widowed Rosanna had 2 young children – Joseph, aged 2, & Emma Rosanna, only 2 months old.
Henry & Emma were still at 9 Paradise St in 1901& Henry was still a blacksmith. Mabel (22) was a dressmaker, Thomas (20) was a carpenter, Emma (17) was a book keeper, George (15) was a wood polisher, Rose E (Ethel in 1891 census) (13) was a dress makers apprentice. William (11) was still at home & there was another daughter Hannah, aged 7. Son Henry (24) was living next door at 11 Paradise St & was a railway carriage worker. He was married to Ada Harris (22) whose sister Florence (12) was visiting at the time of the census. Henry & Ada had an 8 month old son Harry.
There is a death registered for Emma Wall, aged 60, at West Bromwich in Jan-March 1910
