William Wall was the first child of Joseph Wall & Sarah Timmins born Jan-March 1846 at Rowley Regis, Staffs.
In 1851 William was living at home at Tividale, Rowley Regis with his parents, brother & sister.
William was still at home in 1861 but the family were now living at Chapel St, Rowley Regis.
William married Mary Ball on May 22nd 1866, at Rowley Regis, Staffs. Mary was the daughter of Elizabeth Bird & James Ball, an engineer, born c1849 at Rowley Regis. William & Mary were neighbours at the time of the 1861 census in Rowley Regis – William lived at no.83 & Mary at no. 84 Chapel St – so he married the girl next door!!
In 1871 William & Mary were living at 4 St James St, Wednesbury & William was a puddler. They had 2 children – Ann E (3) & Thomas (1). They also had a 16 year old servant, John Edwards.
By 1881 the family had moved to Tipton & were living at 72 Lea Brook Rd. William was an iron worker & besides Ann & Thomas they now had W (7), E (4), J (2) & H (7 months). There was also a boarder – W Essex, an ironworker.
It appears that William died before the 1891 census as Mary had remarried by then. There is a death for William Wall, aged 41, registered at Dudley (includes Tipton) in Jan-March 1885.
