Letitia Winder [wi.4.5.2]

Letitia Winder was the daughter of Robert Winder & Letitia Boswell born c1825 at Edmonton, Middx.

In 1841 Letitia was living with her family at Lower Edmonton, London. Her father, Robert, tragically died when he was trampled by one of his own coach horses in 1849.

Letitia married Henry John Beard in Oct-December 1854 at Newington, Surrey. Sadly Henry died in July-September 1857, his death being registered at Edmonton.

Widowed Letitia married Edmund John Livermore on September 24th, 1860 at St Paul’s Church, Southwark, Surrey. Edmund was a widower who had previously been married to Letitia’s sister Anne Winder who had died in 1859. At the time of the wedding Edmund was described as a warehouseman. Edmund was born c1820 at Edmonton, the son of Mary Ann & James Livermore, a market gardener. Witnesses at the wedding were Caroline Winder, Letitia’s younger sister, & Thomas Utley.

Edmund died in April-June 1865, the death being registered at Hackney. He was buried in the family grave of Letitia’s parents at All Saints, Edmonton.

In 1871 widowed Letitia was living in Hackney with her son William aged 7, her occupation was a laundress.

In 1891 Letitia (64) was living at 14 Stratford Place, St Pancras & was described as living on her own means. With her were niece Elizabeth Buchanan (18), a barmaid who was the daughter of Letitia’s sister Caroline Winder who had married George Edmund Buchanan, & ‘nephew’ Reggy Nelson (7) who was in fact Letitia’s brother John Winder’s grandson.

Letitia died Oct-December 1899 aged 77, her death being registered at Pancras.
