William Winder [wi.4.7]

William Winder was the seventh child of Edmund Winder & Elizabeth Style born October 24th, 1793 at Burnham Abbey farm, Burnham and christened November 21st, 1793 at St. Peter’s Burnham.

William married Mary Austin in 1824 at Holborn St Andrew, London. Mary was born c1802.

William was mentioned in his mother’s will of 1840. She expressly desired that William should not become a beneficiary until he had paid back debts owed to her.

William died prior to census day (June 6th) 1841 and was in fact buried on census day at St. Mary’s, Aylesbury, Bucks. At the time of the 1841 census Mary was living at Walton St, Aylesbury, Bucks with children William (16), Harriett (11), Mary Ann (9) & Charlotte (5). Mary was described as independent. Daughter Elizabeth (14) was living in Burnham at Britwell farm, the home of Giles & Mary Tombs. Also living there was Emma Lovett (15) an apprentice dressmaker.

At the time of the marriage of their second child Elizabeth to William Webster in 1850 in St Sepulchre’s Parish, London, her father was given as William, occupation "mealman" . There was no mention of William Winder senior being deceased on either this marriage cerificate, or on the marriage certificate for son William junior in 1852, when William senior was described as "surveyor".
